Question:
I have just the beginnings of hooding of my upper eyes. If I get upper lid blepharoplasty now, will that skin continue to droop as I age? Would I need this surgery redone some years down the road?
Answer:
Upper lid blepharoplasty sounds like just the procedure that you will need in order to get rid of the sagging skin above your eyes. A thorough evaluation of your upper lids will enable me to see if there is another procedure other than an upper lid blepharoplasty that would also be helpful in addressing aging skin of your eyes. Unfortunately, there is no way to prevent aging. You can certainly take care of your facial skin with sun screens and avoid tobacco and excessive alcohol. However, your upper lid skin will continue to age and likely stretch so in 15 years you will probably want to have a revision of your upper eyelid surgery.
