Question:
Is there any one filler than can be used to improve marionette lines and lip lines, as well as some other superficial facial wrinkles? Or is it better to use different fillers for different problems?
Answer:
There are many different facial fillers on the market. Many of them are hyaluronic acid products, such as Restylane and Juvederm, and others are made of either different natural products, or artificial products. I prefer to stay with the natural products in my practice like Juvederm, Restylane or Perlane. These products provide excellent results and I do not worry about potential for short and long term complications like I do with the synthetic dermal fillers. I tend to use larger particle fillers like Perlane to increase the fullness of the face and to fill deeper lines. I like to use Restylane and Juvederm when I am treating lips, marionette lines, and naso labial folds that are not too deep. I will use only the small particle hyaluronic acid dermal filler products for superficial lines. I am also a big fan of autologous fat injections and will suggest fat transfer be performed either as an independent procedure or in combination with a face lift or mid face augmentation
