Question:
I recently came across the term ethnic blepharoplasty. Can you explain what this is? I’m Asian and interested in getting a more Westernized look to my eyes. Would this be ethnic blepharoplasty?
Answer:
My suspicion is that the term “ethnic blepharoplasty” is used to describe blepharoplasty surgery on an Asian patient. Many Asian patients desire a more Westernized look to the eyelid. This would mean creation of a fold or crease in the upper eyelid or removal of the epicanthal fold of the eyelid skin. Each patient has individual desires and “ethnic blepharoplasty” can be tailored to fit the needs of the patient.
