Question:
I had fat transferred into my cheeks 3 weeks ago. The right side seems to be much more plump than the left. Is it possible that it might not have worked in the left cheek? Or is it normal for there to be some differences during the healing process?
Answer:
Your facial asymmetry following your fat transfer to your cheeks can be the result of a few things. Given the fact that the procedure took place only three weeks ago, you may still have a bit of swelling that will have to resolve as facial fat transfer can have prolonged swelling on one side more than another. Fat graft survival is also somewhat unpredictable in facial fat transfer but, I would not expect a significant difference in the appearance of your cheeks if the same amount of fat was transferred to each cheek. I would wait several more weeks and it is possible that you will require a touch up of the facial fat transfer to even things out.
