Question:
It’s now several weeks since my rhinoplasty. When I first had the cast removed, I was very pleased with the result. But since then the swelling seems to have actually increased. Is this normal?
Answer:
To have some additional swelling to your nose a few weeks after rhinoplasty is not entirely uncommon. If the edema is appreciably more especially along the bridge or tip, you may want to discuss with your surgeon whether steroid injections may be advised to your tip or nasal bridge to help diminish the swelling and to prevent permanent scar tissue formation. In thicker skinned individuals I inject a low dose of steroids to both of these areas following rhinoplasty.
