Question:
What are the most common changes you make when performing rhinoplasty on Middle Eastern patients and how do you make these changes?
Answer:
The majority of nose concerns that Middle Eastern patients present to my office with have to do with the length of the nose, large humps, and thick and poorly developed nasal tips. Not every Middle Eastern patient wants the same changes, but the majority of patients want each of these areas of their nose addressed during rhinoplasty. I will lower the bridge by reducing the cartilage and bone to the level that we have mutually decided upon during our preoperative consultations. I will sculpt the nasal tip by performed various suture techniques to the nasal tip in combination with conservative defatting and thinning the tip to bring out more of the nasal tip detail. Finally, if the nose is too long, then various rhinoplasty techniques will be used to reduce the length of the nose. I would emphasize that one size does not fit all and I each rhinoplasty that I perform is individualized for the particular patient.
