Question:
I have a limited number of days that I can take off for my otoplasty surgery next month. I need to let my boss know what is going on and would like to know when I can return to work after ear pinning surgery.
Answer:
If you are the type of individual who is somewhat self conscious, and we all are a bit, then I would suggest taking about 10 days off following your otoplasty surgery if you plan on returning to the office or are involved in strenuous activity at your job. If you spend the majority of time on the phone or computer, then you will likely feel up to working about 4 days following your otoplasty. However, you will have a bulky ear dressing on that will make it a bit uncomfortable and prevent you from wearing head phones or using a telephone receiver easily. Otherwise, the recovery from otoplasty is actually not terribly uncomfortable and you will likely feel up to increased activity before I allow you to participate in increased activity.
