Question:
What anesthesia is the facelift usually performed with? Is it possible to avoid using general anesthesia?
Answer:
Facelift surgery can be performed with several different kinds of anesthesia. I prefer general anesthesia for full facelifts if it is combined with other facial procedures such as, eyelid surgery. Local anesthesia with IV sedation is entirely appropriate to have for your facelift. I would counsel against straight local anesthesia as this can be uncomfortable and unsettling in many individuals.
