Question: Where is the fat removed to provide the filler for fat transplants?
Answer: The fat which is used in autologous fat transfer is harvested from areas of the body where there is generally an abundance of fat such as, the abdomen, hips, and thighs. Recent studies have shown that fat harvested from the lower abdomen yields the best fat for augmentation as there appears to be a greater percentage of growth factors present in lower abdominal fat and this may help with fat survival after facial fat transfer.
