Question:
After undergoing a nose job will my nose stay the same forever? Or will aging take effect on it just like the rest of my face?
Answer:
Your nose will certainly age like the rest of your face following rhinoplasty surgery, however, I frequently place cartilagenous grafts into the nose to help support the nose following rhinoplasty. One such graft is called a columella strut. It is made of your own cartilage and I place it in the area in between your two nostrils. The columella strut gives significant support to the nasal tip and will prevent tip drop as you age. If you have a great deal of tip support, you may not require this rhinoplasty maneuver. The nose will age and droop much less rapidly then the rest of your face even after rhinoplasty.
