Question:
I have sagging jowls and as I get older the worse they get. I am a 48 year old male and would like to have this taken care of. Could you please explain if I would need a full, a “mini” or a “standard” facelift and what is the difference? I really feel that the only thing I need fixed is my jowls.
Answer:
If the only area of your face that you are concerned with is the jowls, then you may very well be a candidate for a mini facelift. A mini facelift and full facelift both are employed to address the jowl area. A full facelift is used when there is not only jowling of the face, but, also significant aging of the neck. Mini facelift surgery uses a smaller incision then a full facelift. I also use different surgical techniques to elevate and reposition the tissues of the face when performing a full facelift versus a mini facelift. The recovery time is quite a bit longer from a full facelift.
