Question:
I have heard about something called a “lunchtime” face lift. Is this a type of mini facelift? Could you tell me more about this procedure, and whether or not I would really be able to go back to work afterward?
Answer:
A lunchtime facelift is not a mini facelift. To be frank, all of the catchy names that you have heard which refers to a quick type of facelift are more about marketing than substance. Popular press picks up on these “new” procedures and places them into the cosmetic mainstream, but, to be honest, physicians who perform cosmetic surgery are often times the last to know what these “new” lifts really are. A “lunchtime facelift” is a perfect example of this. If I was to guess what a lunchtime facelift entailed, it would be the injection of dermal fillers in an office setting to give your face some plumping. I perform a great deal of dermal filler injections to the face and it only takes a brief period of time to perform these dermal filler injections. Unless you have had your lips filled, you can return to work right after the procedure without anyone knowing that you had these facial injections and you will look immediately refreshed. Any facelifting procedure that you elect to have performed, regardless of the name, will require several days to recover to a point that you will be comfortable returning to work.
