Question:
I am diabetic, 59 years old and wonder if I am eligible for laser liposuction treatments. I would like treatment on my neck. Is there the possibility of complications because of my diabetes?
Answer:
All surgeries, including laser liposuction, have somewhat of a higher risk when performed on a diabetic patient. Diabetic patients have healing issues that are the result of the microvascularity that supplies the skin with blood not being as reliable as the microvascularity in the non diabetic patient. The microvascularity is needed to help in the healing of the skin following laser liposuction. If laser liposuction is performed conservatively in the neck, then I feel that the potential complications of laser liposuction can be minimized.and leave you with a pleasing appearing neck.
