Question:
How often is a neck lift performed along with a chin implant? What would be the benefit?
Answer:
I typically perform a chin implant at the same time that I perform a neck lift in certain situations. The main reason that I would do this is that the patient who presents to me with significant redundant skin and soft tissue of the neck also has a deficient chin projection. Even though I can tighten up the skin, muscles, and remove some of the fat of the neck, without the use of a chin implant, in a patient with chin projection deficiency, they still do not achieve the degree of neck contour improvement that I can provide without the placement of the chin implant.
