Question:
How long is a typical blepharoplasty surgery?
Answer:
A typical upper eyelid blepharoplasty should last under an hour. To answer the same question about a lower eyelid blepharoplasty is a bit more difficult. The lower lid blepharoplasty can take less than an hour if skin and muscle of the lower lid do not need to be treated, but, can take well over an hour if skin, muscle, fat, and eyelid tension issues need to be addressed during lower lid blepharoplasty. The lower eyelid blepharoplasty is a challenging procedure and care must be taken at every step in order to not only create an esthetically pleasing lower eyelid, but, equally important, to avoid post-operative complications with the lower eyelid that frequently occur.
