Question:
Could you please explain to me the similarities and differences of a facelift and a mini-facelift?
Answer:
The differences between a mini facelift and a full facelift has to do with the surgical technique, the recovery period, and most importantly, the areas of the face which are addressed with either the full facelift or the mini facelift. The full facelift will address the jowls and the neck. The procedure is more invasive because the surgical technique is more aggressive. The results will last longer and will be more profound than a mini facelift procedure. In cases of excess jowling and mild to moderate neck skin laxity, a mini facelift may be all that is needed especially in a younger patient. The procedure uses smaller incisions and less deep dissection planes which results in a quicker and often times less traumatic recovery. The results will not last as long as a full facelift.
