Question:
Where are the incisions located for a neck lift? Are they less extensive than a facelift?
Answer:
There are a few different incisions that can be used for a neck lift and that will depend upon the amount of excess skin and muscle that you have in your neck, and to some extent the amount of excess fat as well. For significant aging of the neck, I make incisions that start just below the ear lobe and extend into the back of the crease of the ear into the hair of the back of the ear and head. I may make a separate smaller incision just beneath the chin in order to tighten the muscles of the neck during the neck lift. Through either of these incisions I am able to remove fat from the neck. A facelift incision is usually a necklift incision plus an incision that runs along the front of the ear and into the temple hairline.
