Question:
I am a 45-year-old male and I have lost a tremendous amount of weight (100+ lbs.) in the last 18 months. I know that I need a facelift, blepharoplasty, and neck lift. I need to lose 28 more pounds to reach my target weight. I know the next 28 pounds will be a much slower loss than the 1st 100 pounds and I am getting quite anxious to get rid of the sagging skin around my face, neck, etc. Am I ready for any of my procedures now or should I wait to have them all done at once?
Answer:
Congratulations! Losing 100+ lbs is really quite a feat. I am behind you 100%. I think that if you are ready for your facelift, blepharoplasty, and neck lift, then I feel that it is entirely appropriate to proceed with your surgery without any fear that losing more weight will adversely affect your ultimate outcome. Having all of the procedures performed at once is also the best approach so that we can balance all of the areas of the face at the same time and not piecemeal your facial rejuvenative procedures together. Also, the biggest variable related to surgical risk is being overweight, and since you have had such a significant weight loss you really have decreased your surgical risk.
