Question:
If I pull up on the top of my forehead, it makes my eyebrows too arched so I look surprised. How do you avoid this when performing a brow lift?
Answer:
You can certainly over elevate the brow in a brow lift procedure. The common phrase is the “deer in headlight” appearance. The best way to avoid this post operative brow lift appearance is to stay conservative when elevating the brow. The lateral part of the brow should gently arch but not elevate to an abnormal position on the forehead. The inner or medial portion of the brow should really be at or slightly above the bony prominence of the orbit above the eye. A brow lift that elevates the inner portion of the brow to excessively will create and abnormal “surprised” appearance.
