Question :
My nose is much too large for my face. I would like to get it reduced in size with a nose job. I am a nose breather. If I get my nose reduced significantly, will it affect my breathing?
Answer :
It would seem that having a nose job to reduce the size of your nose could compromise your ability to breath through your nose. It is not necessarily the case. The size of your nose can be reduced with a nose job and only effect the external appearance of your nose and have no bearing on how your nose functions. Your facial plastic surgeon should have a good understanding as to how a nose job should be performed so that the function of the nose is not affected. Careful management of the cartilages and bone of the nose is necessary to prevent problems postoperatively.
