Question:
I am trying to choose between a mini-facelift and a complete face lift. Most of my issues are with my neck and jowls so I think I am a good candidate for the mini-facelift. What are the additional benefits from having a complete facelift? How does the mini-facelift differ surgically from the traditional facelift?
Answer:
There are definitely differences with the results that you can expect with a mini-facelift versus those that you will see with a full facelift. In my experience, the biggest difference is in the neck. Although the mini-facelift is an excellent approach to treat the jowls, the neck is only partially treated and even adjunct procedures such as tightening the muscles of the neck through a separate incision in the neck does not provide the same results as a full facelift does in neck contouring if that is where your problem lies. Having said that, the full facleift requires considerably more recovery time than the mini-facelift in exchange for a more complete result on the neck.
