Question:
After several months of researching cosmetic procedures online, I have finally decided that I want a facelift. I work at home so I am not concerned about when I can get back to work. I am more concerned about when I can resume my social activities. I know I will miss at least a week of bridge. Will the bruising be completely gone after one week?
Answer:
If you are completely committed to a facelift then you need to be committed to the post operative limitations and recovery. I tell my patients that if you are going to have surgery then you need to be prepared for the post operative requirements. A facelift is an involved procedure and although you will feel well enough to resume social activity in about 10 days, your facial swelling and bruising can last two weeks or more. You will be permitted to apply makeup after one week and this will help camouflage your bruising. If you are concerned that your friends will find out that you had a facelift, then I would suggest waiting two weeks prior to returning to normal social activity.
