Question:
I have always had ears that stick out. I’d like them fixed but I don’t want a drastic change. Can the ears be subtly improved with otoplasty?
Answer:
Otoplasty for prominent ears is not a one surgery that fits all patients. Generally, the norms for the position of the ears in any individual are consistent. In other words, the ears are a certain distance from the skull and in all individuals the normal position of the ears will only vary by a few millimeters. If you desire a less tight appearance to your ears, we can usually accommodate your request within a few millimeters as scarring and healing following otoplasty surgery is still present.
