Question:
I am the parent of a child who I believe is a good candidate for otoplasty. How big is the risk, if any, for hearing impairment as a result of this procedure?
Answer:
There really is no risk at all of compromising hearing in your child if they have an otoplasty performed. Hearing is not really affected by alterations in the shape of the external ear, which is exactly what takes place during otoplasty.
