There have been other permanent injectable fillers on the market in the past. Other permanent fillers, such as silicone, have had significant issues with regards to inflammation. I have some issues with permanent injectable fillers for the following reason. As the face ages, and we all age, the soft tissue and bony structure changes in shape and position. What may look like a good cosmetic outcome when you are in your early forties with the use of permanent injectable fillers, may look entirely abnormal in your fifties or sixties. There are no good ways to remove these fillers so I am a bit more conservative with foreign materials when it comes to implanting them in the face.
