Question:
I am excited by the advances in plastic surgery. I read about laser assisted liposuction and feel that I am a perfect candidate for this procedure. I have fat in my thighs that needs to go. Is this procedure painful? Is there any anesthetic for the procedure?
Answer:
Laser assisted liposuction is definitely indicated for excess fat of the inner or outer thighs. Laser liposuction is performed under local anesthesia with mild oral sedation. The anesthetic used in laser lipolysis is a tumescent solution so that not only is the procedure performed comfortably, but, there is minimal blood loss and bruising compared to traditional liposuction. Patients can return to work about a day after laser liposuction surgery but I recommend taking a couple of days to recover if you can. Activity levels can be increased slowly following laser liposuction.
