Question:
I feel like my face has been very swollen and puffy ever since my facelift. How long should swelling last and is there anything I can do to minimize it?
Answer:
I tell all of my patients that depending upon the degree of surgery required to perform their facelift, swelling will last at least two weeks and can last even longer if fat injections, or a midface lift are performed concurrently. I would not be too concerned if you have a bit of facial swelling following your facelift but, I would discuss your concerns with your surgeon to make sure all is healing appropriately. Keeping your head elevated at night and reducing any strenuous activity will help expedite the time your face appears swollen after your facelift surgery.
