Question:
I had upper blepharoplasty 4 months ago. The procedure had left my eyelids very red. Will the redness ever go away?
Answer:
Redness of an incision can occur following any surgical procedure. The upper eyelid skin is very forgiving and can heal quite rapidly. If redness does persist it should not be of significant concern if the eyelid incision otherwise looks good. You may want to speak to your doctor about the potential for a hypersensitivity reaction to eyelid cream or even makeup that did not give you much difficulty prior to your blepharoplasty. Complete resolution of the redness can take several months.
