Question:
I have heard that after a facial fat transfer, there is a risk of having pockets of fat grouping in areas of my face. If this happens, how can this be smoothed out?
Answer:
One of the most common potential complications of facial fat grafting is clumping of the fat or palpable excess fat in some of the areas which have been injected. Meticulous care must be taken in order to avoid over injecting fat into the face. If there should be areas of asymmetry or significant fat excess at some of the injection sites, the fat can be removed with small liposuction cannulas in order to smooth out the areas of concern. Removal of small amounts of fat following facial fat injection is not a simple procedure and some facial asymmetry may continue to persist.
