Question:
I have horizontal wrinkles in my neck and sagging in my cheeks and would like a facelift. Do you recommend laser skin resurfacing on the neck to remove the creases? I believe they are permanent, although probably less noticeable after the face lift
Answer:
Horizontal wrinkling of your neck can be modified with a face and neck lift procedure. Laser resurfacing of the neck is not generally performed except with the use of Fraxel non ablative erbium laser. The skin of the neck is simply too thin to have laser resurfacing performed to any appreciable degree. Scarring, burns, and discoloration are all potential risks that truly have a good chance of occurring if the neck is treated too aggressively. A face and neck lift will tighten the skin, but, the quality of the neck skin will have to be treated with either light chemical peels or Fraxel laser treatments. I would wait for several weeks following surgery before performing any procedures to the skin of the neck.
