Question:
I have recently read about something called “facelift tape” that will temporarily give you the appearance of having a facelift. Would this product be a viable option for a 65-year-old woman with minimal wrinkles who is afraid of surgery?
Answer:
I was recently told about “facelift tape”. Taping your face would give your face a partial appearance of a facelift but, this is likely pretty uncomfortable and exceptionally synthetic appearing. At 65 years of age, there is likely not going to be a substitute for a face lift if you are looking to improve your appearance to the same degree that you can expect with a facelift. I have several patients who are also afraid of surgery. Undergoing anesthesia and having surgery performed on your face can be quite anxiety provoking. I find that good education and setting realistic expectations and parameters about the facelift procedure really puts my patients at ease. You should find a reputable surgeon who will spend time with you and I am sure you will feel less trepidation about the facelift procedure and surgery in general.
