Question:
I think I look pretty good for 59. I very few wrinkles, I exercise religiously and I have maintained my weight. Why then, when I have taken such good care of myself, do I have loose folds of skin on my neck? Can I get these folds removed with a neck lift?
Answer:
The neck skin is very thin and sun exposure and simply aging will result in the changes to the neck that you have described. Without seeing you it is also possible that the muscle that runs underneath the skin in your neck and forms a sling, the platysma muscle, has also become lax and needs to be tightened to give your neck a more youthful appearrance. A neck lift will take care of the excess skin and a platysmaplasty will tighten the muscle giving you a very youthful neck.
