Question:
I would like laser hair removal for my forearms. I have a lot of freckles on my forearms. Will they lighten up at all with the laser treatment? Does the laser cause any skin color changes?
Answer:
The laser that is used for hair removal is of a different wavelength than the laser that would be used to lighten up freckles of the forearm. Having said that, hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation of the skin can occur with any laser procedure where the laser goes deeper than the most superficial part of the skin. The diode laser we use for laser hair removal is extremely safe but, this would certainly be one of the issues and potential complications of laser hair removal that we would discuss with you prior to the procedure.
