Question:
I’m 47, female, and I’ve been looking into Thermage to tighten up my face so that I can look better without getting a full facelift. I’ve read that Thermage uses radio waves to tighten the skin and refresh the appearance of the face. Are these radio waves potentially dangerous?
Answer:
There is a great deal of controversy with regards to Thermage treatments, its efficacy and its safety profile. The newer generation Thermage treatments have proven much better than the earlier versions. Skin tightening will not take place immediately. Like all laser treatments for skin tightening, Thermage treatments essentially improve the skin by first damaging the skin causing collagen of the skin to remodel, reorganize, and eventually tighten the skin. The results of such a procedure, be it Thermage or any other laser skin thightening procedure, is not immediate and the results can take months to fully take place.
