Question:
I’m a 16 year old girl, and I’ve got a bifid earlobe. My parents have refused to let me get it fixed for years, and have finally decided I can go ahead with it. My question is, can a bifid earlobe be fixed with an otoplasty now that I’m older and my ears have harder cartilage?
Answer:
You will unlikely need a full otoplasty to address a bifid ear lobe. A bifid ear lobe can be fixed under local anesthesia and it can be performed in an office setting. I treat split ear lobes from ear ring trauma all of the time and a bifid lobe is very similar in its presentation.
