Question:
I’m a 38-year-old man. I’m African American and I happen to have the problem of a somewhat squashed tip paired with flaring nostrils. I’d like to retain my heritage, but I don’t like this aspect of my nose. Would a tiplasty fix these problems for me or will I need a more extensive rhinoplasty?
Answer:
I have performed a great deal of ethnic rhinoplasty on African American noses. You can see some of my work at r3n06c5stg.wpengine.com and click on my rhinoplasty photos. I can thoroughly understand the idea of making changes to your nose yet maintaining the fundamental character and ethnicity of your nose. I subscribe to the concept of moderation in rhinoplasty surgery. Changes that I make to your nose during rhinoplasty are highly individualized. If I perform tip rhinoplasty and nostril narrowing, these changes can be very subtle if that is what you desire. I can also create dramatic changes to a nose during ethnic rhinoplasty but, like yourself, these are not really the changes my patients desire.
