Question:
I’m a 48 year old woman, and I’m getting a blepharoplasty in three weeks. I’m not looking forward to the bruising at all, and I’m trying to find a way to hide it after surgery. I’m not sure if this is ever done, but can injectable fillers like Juvederm improve the appearance of bruising after facial surgery?
Answer:
Although I am a big fan of Juvederm, Restylane and other dermal fillers, and really dislike bruising following any facial procedure, the use of these dermal fillers will not give you a great deal of benefit in hiding any of the bruising you may experience following your blepharoplasty surgery. Bruising from blepharoplasty can last about two weeks, especially in the lower eyelids, however, makeup and cover up can be used after about one week following surgery to help reintroduce yourself into the world.
