Question:
I’m a 56-year-old woman. I had a face lift last year, so I figure my skin must be pretty delicate at this point. I’m happy with the results of my lift, but I would like my skin to look younger. Would getting a chemical peel be detrimental to the results of my facelift, or could it actually enhance them?
Answer:
During the consultation for facial rejuvenation I often times discuss the differences between skin quality and skin quantity. Skin quantity is addressed with procedures such as facelifts and fat injections. the face may still not look as good as it can unless something is done to change the quality of the skin. I frequently perform either laser resurfacing or chemical peels at the same time as a facelift procedure to address this issue. One year following your facelift is sufficient time to wait to have a chemical peel performed on your face and I am certain that you will appreciate the results you will obtain.
