Question:
I’m interested in getting a facelift but I’m concerned about scarring. Is there anything that I can do after my surgery to minimize the appearance of the scar and help it to heal as well as possible?
Answer:
One of the most feared complications of facelift surgery or any other surgery is the appearance of scars. Careful preoperative planning of your facelift and meticulous execution of the facelift with attention to closure of the incisions will minimize the appearance of the incisions and decrease the incidence of scarring. Following the post operative instructions that you will be given for your facelift surgery will also help insure that your healing process will be optimal. Avoiding the use of alcohol, tobacco, and sun will also help to decrease scarring. We also provide you with Arnica cream and pills to help reduce bruising, and antibiotic ointment to apply to your facelift incisions to enable the incisions to heal more rapidly.
