Question :
2 months after my facelift, I’m still experiencing a lot of numbness behind my ears. Is this normal? Is there anything that can be done to improve this because it’s very disconcerting.
Answer :
Numbness following a facelift can last for several months. The area behind your ears will eventually reinervate and sensation will return. There is a nerve, however, called the greater auricular nerve, that is responsible for sensation of the ear lobe itself. If this nerve was injured during your facelift, which not common but, does occur, then it will take a longer period of time for the area to recover if it recovers at all.
