Question:
What are the different options that you provide for facelifts? I had always thought that there was one type of facelift and now there seem to be other options.
Answer:
I provide several different options for facelifts and the option that I would choose depends upon the needs of the patient. If you are relatively young and have issues with sagging jowls and minor neck laxity the I would suggest a mini facelift procedure. If you are a bit older and have more extensive facial and neck skin laxity I would suggest a full facelift. I like to perform a sub SMAS facelift as I feel that the results are more dramatic and last longer than a less aggressive facelift approach. Finally, depending upon the status of your neck, I will perform some type of procedure to either tighten or remove excess muscle of the sagging portion of your neck. There are other types of facelifts such as deep plane facelifts and SMAS imbrication facelifts and a portion of the facelift that I like to perform may include elements of these other facelift procedures. During your consultation in my office we will discuss which facelift will give you the best possible long term result while still enabling you to recover quickly.
