Question:
There seem to be a lot of definitions for the mini facelift. What defines a mini facelift and is there one approach that’s best?
Answer:
Your confusion with regards to the mini facelift and what exactly defines a mini facelift is completely understandable. The mini facelift is a short incision facelift that is designed to address the jowl area and to some extent, mild neck skin laxity. The mini facelift incision that I prefer to use mirrors that of a full facelift without the incision extending into the hairline behind the ear and does not include significant surgical dissection of the neck skin. The mini facelift will elevate the skin and soft tissue of the jowls in an upward direction to improve the appearance of the jaw line and the neck. I don’t know whether any particular approach to the mini facelift is best, but, if you are considering having a mini facelift, I would suggest having the procedure performed with a reputable surgeon who has experience with the mini facelift to insure the best possible outcome.
