Question:
What sort of complications are associated with facial implants and how are they treated?
Answer:
The two most common complications following the placement of facial implants are displacement and infection. If the facial implant should become dislodged then the implant will have to be repositioned. In the rare case that an infection should occur to the facial implant, unless antibiotics can clear up the infection, the facial implant will have to be removed. Once the location that the implant was placed is free of bacteria, then a new facial implant can be replaced in the surgical site.
