Question:
I just had my upper bleph done 1 week ago. I am having trouble with blurry vision since the surgery. When can I expect this to clear up?
Answer:
Blurry vision following an upper eyelid blepharoplasty is likely secondary to swelling of the outer layer of the eyeball called the conjunctiva. Conjunctival edema, or chemosis, is generally a transient issue and should last only a few days. I have had some patients complain to me of blurred vision after their upper lid blepharoplasty only to learn that they were putting the eye ointment directly into their eye and not on the incisions as directed. If you have any real concerns I would suggest contacting your surgeon.
